Whirlpool Direct-Drive Washer Leaking and Not Spinning Properly in Arvada

The Problem — Three Separate Failures
Inspection revealed three distinct problems on this washer:
- A leaking drain pump
- A leaking water inlet valve
- A rusted and grease-contaminated clutch assembly causing weak spin performance
On Whirlpool direct-drive washers, the clutch assembly helps transfer power from the transmission to the spin basket. When the clutch becomes worn, contaminated, or damaged, the basket may spin slowly or fail to extract enough water from the clothing — leaving laundry excessively wet at the end of the cycle.
Repair — Water Inlet Valve Replacement
The leaking water inlet valve was removed and replaced with Whirlpool Part #WPW10144820. The water inlet valve controls the flow of hot and cold water into the washer tub; a leaking valve can cause water to pool beneath the machine and contribute to floor damage over time.
Repair — Drain Pump and Clutch Replacement
The leaking drain pump was replaced with Whirlpool Part #WP3363394. We then accessed the washer's direct-drive transmission and spin system, removed the rusted and grease-contaminated clutch assembly, and installed replacement clutch Part #285785.
